Christmas-Wishes-buttonHi there, kids!  Today is the beginning of the Christmas Wishes Blog Hop!  All weekend you can hop from one blog to the next, meeting new authors and entering to win prizes.  AND you can do it all by clicking the little button on the left hand side of the post.  At the end, I’ll post a link to the rafflecopter widget so that you can enter to win either a Nook Glow Light, a Kindle Paperwhite and a $90 Gift Certificate to either Barnes and Noble or Kindle!  And since we’re talking about eReaders, you may as well know that a copy of my vampire novella, “Sanguine Kiss” will be loaded onto the reader.  In the spirit of that, I’ve decided to post a blurb and an excerpt of that book, just to get your juices flowing!

Blurb:

Vengeance is only the beginning…
Gillian Thompson wants to end her life. Deserted by her lover and desperate for peace, she thinks that death is the only answer. But life never closes one door without opening a window. On a fateful night, the one that should be her last, she meets the dark and mysterious Seth, who seems to understand the depth of her pain. Rather than let her kill herself, he offers Gillian a new life beyond pain and regret. A life bathed in bloody kisses and bittersweet vengeance.
Excerpt:

He grinned, running his thumb along the tiny bones of her wrist, feeling the blood pumping hard in her veins but trying to ignore it. “I think we make our own paradise.” He could smell the lust rising in her blood, and he inhaled it deeply. It would be so sweet and warm, flowing over his lips and rolling down his chin in exquisite molten death. Once started, he knew he wouldn’t be able to stop. “I feel sorry for you, Gillian,” he rasped, edging closer to her warmth.

“I don’t need your pity.” She sighed, her body tense as he came closer. But he could see it in her sanguinekiss_200x300eyes—she could smell him. She wanted him, though she didn’t understand why. Already she was imagining his body pressed against her, driving her into his bed with the violent impetus of his thrusts. She could almost feel the bruises around her wrists when he held her down. Her mouth was dry and she kept chewing on her lip, all thoughts of her former lover clouded with the miasma of his masculinity.

“I offer no pity,” he said, brushing her hair away from her throat. “And no mercy.” He kissed her neck, just under her ear and let his lips linger there, brushing the soft skin with them. He wanted to relish every

layer of her flavor, from the salty sweetness of her skin to the spicy bitterness of her sex. Only when she was at the peak of arousal would he allow himself to submit to his hunger.

“Why are you doing this to me?” She leaned into the cradle of his arms almost involuntarily. “I don’t even know you,” she whispered, her cheek running against his.

“What does it matter?” he purred, brushing her hair away from her shoulders. “You said you wanted to die.” Leaning in, he kissed at the pearled white curve of her shoulder, wanting desperately to taste the thick, sanguine fluid that lurked beneath but holding back. To kill her would be an anticlimax that he couldn’t bear. He needed more time to figure her out.

“Dying is a peaceful repast,” she whispered, letting her idle fingers stroke through the messy piles of his hair. “A way to stop the pain.”

Seth chuckled darkly. “Are you willing to take that chance, love? Who knows what lies beyond this mortal cage?” Lifting his head, he brushed the smooth skin of his cheek against hers, relishing the sensation of skin against skin. He breathed against her, his scent and serpentine movement hypnotizing her almost immediately. “A cold, dreamless sleep from which you cannot wake.”

“Then you do fear death,” she rasped, moving her lips ever so gently against his skin.

“I only fear not living.” He pushed his long, lithe fingers through her hair, pulling her into a desperate kiss. She gasped for air, opening her mouth to take a breath only to be invaded by him. His tongue slipped along hers, tasting and teasing until all she could do was give herself up to it. He gripped the knot of her hair tightly in his fist, pulling her this way and that, exhausting her until she was drunk with the onslaught of his seduction. He felt her body relax, surrendering to him completely and he knew that if he was to taste of her blood that this was the opportune moment he’d been waiting for. She arched her back, letting her head fall limply to the side as if offering the bulging blue vein to him. He could feel his fangs, heavy and sore with the venom, lengthen in preparation to strike.
